Junior NHS doctor with a passion for health informatics, working as Chief Medical Information Officer for Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
Website and app developer, with a keen focus on user-centred design.
Aspiring medical educator, currently studying a Masters in Medical Education.
About MeI am a junior doctor in the NHS, working as Chief Medical Information Officer for Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, and undertaking locum clinical work in a number of different specialties.
I have a passion for technology and innovation, which I have developed into practical knowledge over the last 10 years with my experience in website and app development. Working on the frontline of the NHS has made me realise just how far behind healthcare is in terms of its technology relative to all other industries.
As a result, NHS staff find their jobs significantly harder, and patients do not receive the best possible care that we as a nation are capable of delivering.
Therefore, my role includes being a clinical voice in the delivery of a brand new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) for the Royal Free, supporting healthcare staff in the integration of new technologies such as voice recognition into the clinical practice, and fostering the development of grassroots innovation in healthcare.
October 2018 - I delivered a speech on the topic of Big Data in Healthcare at the 1st China Hospital IoT Conference (Wuxi, China)
I am primarily a web developer, working with PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript to build web applications with a variety of needs. I have developed a number of websites over the last ten years, ranging from simple static single page sites to complex interactive web applications.
In addition I also enjoy developing mobile applications for iOS and Android, using Swift and Java in order to create exciting new functionalities such as apps as the ones mentioned below.
Finally I am always excited to explore new aspects of coding and development, for example most recently I have started learning to use React in order to create progressive web applications (PWA) with PostGreSQL in order to try and deliver even better user experiences without the difficulties of traditional mobile apps.
I am also an aspiring medical educator, and I am currently studying my Masters in Medical Education with University College London and the Royal College of Physicians (UCL & RCP).
Whilst at university I re-founded the Cambridge University Medical Education Society (CUMedEdSoc), drawing together a talented committee on which I served as President. We delivered numerous teaching schemes to undergraduate medical students, ranging from weekly theoretical pathology supervisions and integrated clinical scenario supervisions, to termly practical acute care simulation schemes and clinical correlates of pre-clinical medicine teaching.
In total we had over 600 students, 100 supervisors, and the schemes were accredited for the University of Cambridge Clinical School’s undergraduate Teaching to Teach programme. I was a supervisor for all of these schemes which allowed me to use feedback and reflection to inform my own teaching practices, and this is something that has captivated me ever since.
Finally I am also incredibly passionate about innovation and new business ideas, whether in healthcare, education, technology or another field entirely!
I recently completed a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) via on online "learning at a distance" course delivered by Quantic School of Business and Technology, an incredibly exciting institution that utilises disruptive innovation with a clear focus on active learning in order to provide better education for its learners.
I hope that this will teach me skills useful in whatever future career I develop, whether that is in healthcare management, informatics, education or any other field.
